MISSION STATEMENT

Reagan's Recipe, Inc. is an all natural gourmet cookie company dedicated to keeping the memory of Reagan alive. We are dedicated to funding colon cancer research and education. Colon cancer is the second leading cancer killer, second only to lung cancer, yet it is the most preventable of all cancers. Our company will donate 25% of our net profits to organizations that fund colon cancer research and prevention. We also want to make sure that screening is available to all women, especially women under the age of 50, since they are diagnosed at a rate slightly higher than men.

Ultimately, we want a medical facility in Los Angeles, similar to the Jay Monahan Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital, dedicated to treating gastrointestinal cancers, and more specifically, treating them in women. This cancer is highly preventable and almost always curable if caught early and treated properly, and we are dedicated to supporting education in this regard.

We would also like to see colonoscopies become a standard procedure covered by all insurance carriers. This procedure is acknowledged to be the best procedure for detecting colorectal cancers. Too often, primary family members under the age of 50, with a family member already diagnosed with colon cancer, are not covered for the appropriate screening. Since color cancer is usually in an advanced stage when many of the first symptoms are noted, appropriate and early screening is imperative. As mentioned, this cancer is almost always treatable and curable if caught in the early stages. Reagan was only 36 when she died, and it is thought that she had her cancer for at least ten years prior to its discovery.
